Statement of Need

Stroke and heart disease are the number one cause of death in Montana.  While most clinicians are familiar with the advances in treatment of acute coronary ischemia, significant progress has been made in the diagnosis and treatment of stroke.  Despite the demonstrated effectiveness and availability of acute and secondary medical therapies for stroke, primary providers often have little exposure to and experience in applying these therapies.  This conference will present standard of care and advanced  diagnostics and therapies for stroke  to primary providers of our region caring for the majority of stroke victims in the early minutes of acute stroke and months after.

Target Audience

Primary care providers (Physicians, PAs, NPs), emergency physicians, nurses, emergency personnel (EMTs, paramedics).
